The Project

Living Rich as a Student in the Netherlands is a bestselling personal finance book aimed at helping international students and young professionals  take control of their finances while living and studying in the Netherlands. After the success of the first edition, my client began working on a second edition with more up-to-date information to reflect the current financial landscape. While the first edition had already reached thousands of readers, my client wanted the second edition to be even stronger than the first.

My Role

I came on board during the final stages of the second edition to help elevate the manuscript and prepare it for print. My role included:

• Editing for clarity, grammar, and tone: I refined the language throughout the book to improve clarity and flow, without losing my client’s voice and personality.

• Structural edits: I worked on reorganizing sections of the manuscript to strengthen its narrative structure and improve how ideas were introduced, developed, and connected across chapters.

• Formatting support: I made sure the formatting and stylistic choices were consistent throughout the book to improve readability and meet industry standards. For this, I used the Chicago Manual of Style as a reference.

The Outcome

Although the second edition of Living Rich as a Student in the Netherlands hasn’t been released yet, my client was extremely pleased with the editorial support I provided. My edits helped sharpen the message without losing the tone and relatability that made the first edition resonate with so many readers.
